Thanks to the generous donation of Marlayne, the owner of Gently Used Books in Rocky Mountain House, St. Dominic has become a leader in the promotion of literacy and classroom libraries. Marlayne, who recently closed her business, donated all of her remaining stock of books and bookshelves to our school. Although we haven’t had a chance to count yet, the number of books is estimated to be in the thousands. This donation is already bringing new possibilities into our classrooms, such as allowing each classroom to have its own library, and engaging teachers in discussions about how we can foster a greater of love of reading in all of our students. This amazing gift will have a tremendous effect on our school for many, many years to come.
